A metal strip heating element with a mikanite insulator consists of a heating wire (resistive element), a metal case and wire. The heater device has the following structural elements: insulating mica paper (mikanit), according to which the heater (the diameter and frequency of the winding passes and determine the power of the device), a metal case made of stainless steel with a thickness of 0.5 mm. Flat metal heaters have heat only on one side.

Description​

Flat heaters (plates, round, square, etc. shapes)

Flat metal heaters are made according to the client’s individual dimensions, which guarantees optimal heating. Flat heaters can have not only an arbitrary shape, but also have holes for fastenings and special cutouts. If there are holes in a flat metal heating element, its power will decrease due to a decrease in the contact area with the surface. It is possible to specify in advance the type of electrical outlet and the length of the wire. To control the heating temperature, you can install a thermocouple.

Flat heating elements are used in various industries on the metal part of the equipment.

L-shaped metal flat heaters

L-shaped flat heaters are unique in their shape, which allows for full contact with the equipment. Uniform and intensive heating is possible when installing a heating device on complex parts of the equipment.

The L-shaped design of a flat heating element does not differ significantly from a flat-shaped metal heater. Each heater is designed for the customer’s equipment, which will ensure a complete match in size and shape. You can improve the contact of a flat heating element using a pressure plate. When applied on a flat heating element  you will provide improved heat transfer and additional protection against mechanical damage. The pressure plate is attached through the through holes in the heater, so you need to order heating elements as a set.

U-shaped metal flat heating elements

Complex shape flat heaters or U-shaped type are made on the basis of elements of a micanite flat heating element. Thanks to the unique shape, which repeats the dimensions of the heated equipment, you can heat a complex section of metal equipment. Production of custom-made heating flat heating elements will ensure a uniform and fast transfer of heat energy.
Heating is possible with a flat micanite heater  up to a maximum temperature of 350оС. It is possible to ensure full contact of the heating element with the surface using a high-temperature mounting paste. Heating of a U-shaped flat heating element is possible only on one side.

Installation​

When installing and operating metal heaters, it is worth remembering:

  • A sufficient and uniform removal of thermal energy from the heater should be provided so that in the process it does not heat up over 400 ° C. Otherwise, it can overheat and fail. This is achieved using clamping devices or mounting pasta.
  • Also, the heated surface should be correct, without shells and protrusions, with the smallest roughness.
  • The heater is leaky and cannot work in humid environments, however, the metal case provides sufficient protection with a slight moisture or plastic hit on its surface.
